Bring History Home for Your Holiday Season
The Exclusive Capitol Visitor Center Ornament

The United States Capitol –  an enduring symbol of democracy. America’s most iconic landmark. Our exclusive Capitol Dome ornament brings a piece of American history to your holiday tree.  Crafted from marble dust saved from renovations of the Capitol’s steps, this three-dimensional ornament brings a piece of America’s history to your holiday festivities.

The People’s Tree is a time-honored tradition at the U.S. Capitol. Each year, a tree is selected from a national forest and makes its way to the Capitol Grounds. This year’s tree hails from North Carolina. Once it takes its place on the lawn in front of the Capitol, the tree is trimmed with thousands of ornaments, handmade by children from the tree’s home state.

We invite you to share in this historic holiday tradition with our commemorative ornaments. Each design reflects the art and architectural elements of the Capitol.

Designed by Frederick Law Olmsted in 1874, the Capitol Grounds feature curved walkways, fountains, historic trees and seasonally blooming flowers. The Grounds are a place of living natural history welcoming visitors from around the world to America's Capitol. These handmade pieces are crafted from Japanese Pagoda, Yoshino Cherry and American Hornbeam trees repurposed from the Capitol Grounds.

These wonderful gifts reflect the Capitol's proud history. They are made from sandstone, marble and wood reclaimed from building renovations and repurposed into distinctive and finely crafted keepsakes for your home. A paperweight, a finely crafted Yoshino Cherry pencil, or a gavel inspired by the one George Washington used to lay the Capitol’s cornerstone, our gifts capture the history of the Capitol.
